Loads of IRC scripts and snippets are created everyday with different purposes, depending on the author. But generally, IRC scripts are created:1. For channel administration and management - to make IRC channel management more efficient through automated scripting;
2. For protection (both for the single user and the channel) against spams, floods and any unwanted attacks brought about by other script users;
3. For bots - in the recent years, more channels are inclined towards providing entertainment through trivia bots, game bots and the like;
4. For command automation - many users find it easier to automate repetitive commands instead of having to type them manually;
5. (And unfortunately, IRC scripting has also been used) for flood attacks and spamming, which many large IRC networks disallow.
